Queen City Where’s Your Crown?

Cebu – known for famous attractions, one of the richest city in the Philippines, top-caliber professionals, “The Queen City Of the South.”

Hi! I am not that good in English and grammar (specifically) but I chose this language so everybody can understand.

I’ve been to Camiguin and Bohol last week (April 28- May 2). It was a very exhausting yet fun experience.

I am a Cebuana trying to explore the wonders of the Philippines by visiting the nearby islands. I usually travel by boat or ship and seeing the waves splashing gives me such an awe.

When I reached Bohol Port Area, you can see striped fishes welcoming you in clear waters.

Then, the island of Camiguin, where crystal like waters accommodates you together with the calmness and peacefulness of the island.

Philippines is a beautiful country indeed!

When its time to go home, I remembered my own city – Cebu City. I tried to imagine if I can see the same crystal-like sea full of fishes or crabs waving at me …happy to have me back.

“Thank you for sailing with us!”

I heard the captain saying that. Excitedly, (coz Im home) I took my phone from my bag and planned to take a picture. But then, THIS!

What happened to the “QUEEN”? What happened to my beloved city? How come I boasted a lot about Cebu City then didnt know about this?

My city, listed as 6th richest city in the whole Philippines, can’t afford to lose a single day to clean up this mess.

My city, known for producing top caliber professionals, don’t know how to treat this sickness.

My city, first to be discovered, maybe also first to be covered.

My city, known for beauty, sooner will be called as UGLY.

My city, filled with tourist spots, a year later will be known as Garbage Spot.

So disappointing, very disappointing. My heart aches for these happenings. Why am I unaware? Why am I doing nothing? Why am I trying to conceal the reality? Why am I still boasting this almost “stinking city“?

So harsh right? Haha! This nightmare is the reality. Don’t think I’m over reacting. Don’t say this is normal. Don’t say its them who do this.

Because honestly, I don’t blame you or the system.

I blamed my self for throwing that single “Max candy” wrapper that adds to that pile of garbage.

I blamed my self for believing that others will clean that for me.

I blamed my self for making my city rich while forgetting that I also need to reconsider the facts that the environment is in trouble.

I blamed my self for not seeing clear waters and marine life welcoming my come back.

I blamed my self for I entrusted the seas to other people.

I blamed my self for enjoying the luxurious gift of the Earth while wasting it.

I blamed my self for choosing plastic bags than paper and reusable bags.

I blamed my self for not telling you that WE, CEBUANOS, HAVE A PROBLEM.

I hate to say but I am one of the reason why we ended up in this situation.

For I am accountable, seas, the air, land and everything in it. I am accountable.

So sad to say that the “QUEEN CITY OF THE SOUTH”, is no longer a QUEEN anymore.

Sharing this through social media or reading this won’t solve the problem.

Don’t worry there’s HOPE.

I am the HOPE of my City! You are also my Hope. Let’s challenge ourselves and fight to get what’s rightfully ours. Let’s bring back the crown (QUEEN’S CROWN) to our city.

DOING SOMETHING CAN SOLVE IT!

I wrote this not to offend people or to degrade the system for even me is also accountable for what’s happening.
